#amwriting #poetry Music is the voice of his gentle soul, a birthday poem for @mykalday1 by Tracy Diane Miller

I founded Arlene Miller Creative Writing in memory of my mother Arlene Miller (August 24, 1924-May 10, 2005) to recognize & support all forms of creative expression.

Mike Moore is a compassionate, gentle & authentic presence on social media. A music aficionado, Mike can be found promoting the musical talents of a slew of artists. His efforts allow others to experience the beauty of music.

May 7th is Mike’s birthday. Here is a new poem that I wrote in honor of this special, quiet man who has enriched the lives of others in ways that he may not even realize.

Music is the voice of his gentle soul,
The purity of the sounds,
That universal language of hope and inspiration,
That gift humanity has always found.

For in the heart of Texas,
A special man lives his days so determined with the music he shares,
In the lyrics and melodies from the heart,
To heal through one’s despair.

How does a songwriter know
that with music one can never be weak?
For there is courage that travels on that wave of a song,
Uttering those emotions that we are afraid to speak.

Music is the voice of his gentle soul,
Authentic in its truth and its pain,
Through the power of a laugh or the sorrow of a tear,
Music is without bias in the beauty of its refrain.

A poet in her silence,
Still weaves verse from her mind she conceives,
Yet, even the most practiced cynic,
May find a song in which to believe.

Music is the voice of his gentle soul,
For there can never be any doubt,
That Mike champions compassionate, love and hope,
And through music, the best in life finds a way to come out.
