My name is Tracy Miller. I founded Arlene Miller Creative Writing in memory of Arlene Miller (August 24, 1924-May 10, 2005) to recognize & support all forms of creative expression.
On this Mother’s Day, I wrote this poem in honor of every parent who has lost a child. I think that we often forget how hard it is for all the mothers out there on Mother’s Day for mothers whose children have passed away. I haven’t forgotten you.
#amwriting #MothersDay #poetry To cherish the day of my Angel, a poem for all the mothers whose children live in Heaven as angels
by Tracy Diane Miller
I remember the day,
When I first held you in my arms,
For we formed an unbreakable bond,
As I vowed to protect you from harm.
My love for you so endless,
As to defy time and space,
Your smile and your laughter continue to my salvation,
You live within my heart, that most unspoiled place.
Yet, why was Fate so cruel as to take you away from me?
My heart watched, ached and mourned; your arms became angels’ wings,
To carry you to the Kingdom of Heaven,
Why was this meant to be?
I still see you,
I’ve felt the cool breeze against my face,
And that eternal light that burns deep within my soul,
It is you, my child, my Angel who resides in that heavenly place.
When your arms became angels’ wings,
I knew not what to do,
On this Mother’s Day, my thoughts linger upon your face,
With so many beautiful memories of you to see me through.
Rest well, my child,
To cherish the day of my Angel,
Like every day is never a difficult task,
Until we live together again in Heaven…
I’ll survive on my love for you, is all I ask.
