#amwriting #poetry A picture of love, a poem in honor of @sleepingkoala45 & Scott Allen by Tracy Diane Miller

My name is Tracy Miller. I founded Arlene Miller Creative Writing in memory of my mother Arlene Miller (August 24, 1924-May 10, 2005) to recognize & support all forms of creative expression.

I was looking at Arlene & Scott’s wedding picture that she shared on social media.

I wrote this new poem inspired by that picture:

A picture of love, a poem in honor of Arlene & Scott Allen by Tracy Diane Miller. #amwriting #poetry

I’ve heard it said, “a picture is a worth a thousand words”,
To gaze at this wedding picture of Arlene and Scott Allen,
we invite ourselves to become witnesses to their love.

A picture of love, it speaks.
What does it say?

A picture of love is a culmination of moments,
A meeting of two hearts and two minds,
That rarity of purpose,
That is not so easy to find.

A picture of love speaks to understanding,
Never silent to the past lessons of pain,
A meeting of two hearts and two minds,
Where everything of value is gained.

Arlene and Scott,
Together in life they were brought,
To heal each other’s sorrow,
A picture of love these soulmates sought.

Their time together not measured by its longevity,
But by the intensity of the love that they share,
A love that continues to thrive,
And to guide Arlene through her despair.

Can we touch our angel in Heaven?
Can our soul mate hear our plea?
When to move beyond each day without them,
Is that challenge that comes to be?

A picture of love becomes that window,
To capture our heart’s gaze,
To lighten that heavy burden of grief,
Our light in the darkest of days.
