I founded Arlene Miller Creative Writing in memory of my mother Arlene Miller (August 24, 1924-May 10, 2005) to recognize & support all forms of creative expression.

Scott Allen would have turned 59 years old today. I wrote this birthday poem in his memory:

Heart song, a birthday poem in memory of Scott Allen by Tracy Diane Miller

Is it thunder?
Is it rain?
That sound in my soul,
That highlights my pain.

For on this day,
To fight the tears that flow,
To awaken my sorrow,
I need to know.

Heart song.

The determined strains of a guitar,
That only my heart can hear,
That melody from Heaven,
I keep so near.

Heart song.

It is Scott, playing.
Scott playing a guitar in Heaven,
The beat reserved only for me,
Our language of love that sustains me you see.

A tear, down my cheek
My lips utter his name,
Our heart song to play on his birthday,
My salvation all the same.

Scott knows.
Scott hears my cries in the dark of night,
Scott fills my soul with memories,
Through my abyss I see light.

Then I hear it.

It is Scott, playing.
Scott playing a guitar in Heaven,
The beat reserved only for me,
Our language of love that sustains me you see.
